Our clients with a market-leading DNA-PCR system designed for laboratory use by skilled medical technicians, needed to update their platform to support high-volume automation, while shrinking the machine footprint such that it fit through a standard doorway. An industrial design team had met this goal with an innovative form-factor, but the need to migrate legacy embedded firmware to work in the new platform left our client stuck.
Exact’s team was engaged to help port the stand-alone micro-controller firmware, to a portable Linux library, integrate automation and motion-control logic alongside the legacy diagnostic technologies, and to bring the machine to life.
